Basking under the eternally blue skies of the Sinai Peninsular and just a few miles north of Sharm el Sheikh can be found the beautiful resort of Sharks Bay. Ideal for families and couples, there's much on offer by way of entertainment and of course fantastic diving opportunities in the almost mystical Red Sea.
Things to Do and See
Given the vast array of multicoloured fish and reefs, it's no wonder that Sharks Bay is popular amongst divers wanting to explore the wonders of the Red Sea. Aside from the natural curiosities that lie beneath the surface there are several eerie ship wrecks silently lying on the sea bed just waiting to be seen by underwater explorers. For a day trip why not head for the legendary Mount Sinai. It was here, according to the book of Exodus, that Moses led the Israelites after the the miraculous Red Sea crossing and received the Ten Commandments. The oldest open Church in the world can be found here, St. Catherine's, otherwise known as the Monastery of the God-Trodden Mount Sinai with its fascinating ancient library and various works of art. If the bustling markets and bazaars are more your thing, then try out your bartering skills in Sharm's Old Town which is simply buzzing with traders selling their wares from jewellery to multicoloured exotic foods.
Nightlife in Sharks Bay
There are a selection of bars and restaurants around the resort, but most of the nightlife is in Naama Bay, a mere 15 minute bus ride away, and a lot of hotels will provide a shuttle to and from. There are also plenty of trendy bars and restaurants in and around Soho Square that has it's own Ice Bar too, very welcome during the hot days of July and August.
Don't forget your sun cream as the the summer months can be scorching which is great if you want nothing more than to cool off in the torquoise waters of the Red Sea or dive in the pool. The cooler months run from November through April.
Sharks Bay is ideally situated to explore the miles and miles of coastline and beaches continuously lapped by the warm waters of the Red Sea. Sharks Bay beach overlooks Tiran Island and the crystal clear waters which are home to a truly staggering array of fish of every conceivable colour. Great for snorkelers and divers alike.
