The cobbled streets and winding avenues of Ibiza Old Town are the perfect way to feel some authentic Spanish charm in true Balearic style. And beach lovers needn't feel the town is off limits either as golden sands and turquoise waters only a stone's throw away when you stay in Ibiza Town.
Some nearby beaches to head for when you want to cool down in Ibiza's crystalline waters include Figueretas, Talamanca and Playa d'en Bossa. All of these are close to the town and come replete with amenities such as snack bars and restaurants and all the usual water based activities associated with the beach. It's good to know that a refreshing dip in the Mediterranean during the hot summer months is always an option when you're staying in Ibiza Town.
Some mesmerising views of the sparkling Mediterranean are to be found as you stroll around the Dalt Vila, the ancient walled upper town where are a choice selection of romantic restaurants awaits you. The idyllic atmosphere of this elevated part of town is perhaps the perfect way to end the evening and you'll soon see just why it has been awarded UNESCO World Heritage Site status. The island's historical zone is popular with locals , too, who come to enjoy breakfast, a cup of genuine coffee, and of course some authentic Mediterranean style people watching. That's not to mention perusing the art galleries and artisan shops.
When to come
The months of June, July and August see the temperatures range from the mid 20s to 30 degrees which is the perfect time to come if you want to bask in the Balearic sunshine and cool down in the pool or take a dip in the sea. As well as the party season being in full swing, the 16th of July pays host to the slightly more traditional fiesta of the Virgen del Carmen, a festival of particular importance to the fishing villages around Spain and its islands, during which time you'll see local Ibizans laying wreaths on the sea in honour of the seamen's patron.
It would be impossible to separate Ibiza Town from its famed nightlife that caters to all tastes whether you're looking for something chilled out or something of the more pumping kind. Perhaps the most famous club in the world, Pacha, is situated here and the action goes on well after the sun goes down and on into the wee hours. Nightlife blurs seamlessly into the daylight hours in the island's clubbing capital.
