Holidays to Tunisia
Tunisia, just 3 hours fliying time from the UK is located on the North Africa coast and is situated between Algeria and Libya. With much of its borders along the Mediterranean Sea, it is naturally a popular beach holiday location. Lush and modern resorts run right along the coast, whilst ancient ruins and a wealth of cultural attraction await holidaymakers who venture a few kilometres inland.
What to See
Tunisia’s most striking feature is its coastline. The nation has been gifted with an abundance of golden sand beaches with clear, warm waters. Most of the resort towns here stem from ancient roots, so there are a multitude of historic sights and ancient bazaars that can be seen on a Tunisian holiday.
The Carthaginian Ruins on the outskirts of Tunis make up the country’s most visited area of cultural interest. It is also surrounded by the ruins of Roman baths and villas, making up a vast complex that provides a window into the ancient world. Closer to central Tunis, visitors will find a wealth of museums, centuries-old mosques, and churches.
Tunisia becomes hotter and dryer to the south, and this area is considered by many to be the gateway to the Sahara. Here visitors can ride camels or all-terrain vehicles through the desert and camp out under the stars. Southern Tunisia is also home to Djerba Island, which is filled with ancient buildings and is considered by some to be the inspiration for The Odyssey.
Tunisia's Beach Resorts
With a generous proportion of the country situated along the sea, several major beach holiday towns have developed, offering a wide range of attractions, hotels, and all inclusive resorts.

and affordable family holidays throughout the high season.
is an ancient city that offers beautiful beaches and fascinating historic sites. It is located south of Hammamet and is most famous for its medina (old quarter). Inside the maze that makes up Sousse’s medina are wonderful sights like the city’s Great Mosque, Mosaic Museum, and a traditional Tunisian home that has been converted into a museum. Sousse also has no shortage of gorgeous beaches featuring crystal clear water. Numerous 3, 4, and 5* resorts are located within walking distance from the water and are a great place to get a last minute deal.
Situated between Sousse and Monastir, Skanes is a relatively quiet beachside resort town. Due to its peaceful nature, Skanes is ideal for family holidays where the whole family can enjoy some tranquil time at the beach.
Mahdia is another Tunisian destination that combines the quintessential beach getaway and a taste of the local culture. This city of 50,000 still has a bustling central market where tourists can find bargains on everything from typical souvenirs to exotic spices and handicrafts. Mahdia’s well-preserved old town is also worth a mention, as are the numerous camel and ATV tours that operate in the area.
Port El Kantaoui
As Tunisia’s first purpose-built tourist town, Port El Kantaoui is pretty close to the perfect stress-free holiday resort getaway destination. Beautiful beaches, 5* resorts, and excellent restaurants make this port town ideal for anyone who is looking for a relaxing holiday. Because there is an abundance of hotel rooms here, it’s also a good spot to look out for cheap holidays and last minute deals.
