About Costa Teguise
Introducing Costa Teguise
Located on Lanzarote's south eastern coast, Costa Teguise is a purpose-built holiday resort offering great beaches, a selection of fantastic restaurants and a huge variety of activities to keep you entertained on your holiday.
Just a short 15-minute drive from the island's main airport in Arrecife, Costa Teguise also has many great places to stay during your time on Lanzarote. From luxury all-inclusive hotels to self-catering apartments, there is a wide selection of fantastic accommodation to suit every budget.
Because Costa Teguise is completely geared towards tourism, there are fantastic facilities for shopping and eating out. Gift shops, jewellers and fashion boutiques can be found all over town and a fantastic craft market is held twice a week in the town centre. A wide selection of restaurants serve up delicious freshly-cooked cuisine, and although Costa Teguise is not as lively as some of the other resorts on the island, there are still plenty of bars where you can find live music and a good atmosphere.
Soak Up the Sun on the Beach of Your Choice
There are five excellent beaches in close proximity to the centre of Costa Teguise, making it a great destination for those who love relaxing in the sun. The most popular beach is Playa Cucharas, a kilometre-long stretch of golden sand with loungers and sun-shades available to rent at a low price. There are also plenty of bars and restaurants nearby, where you can take a break from sunbathing and have a bite to eat.
Although the beach at Playa Cucharas has great facilities, it can be busy during peak periods. Playa Los Charcos offers a quieter alternative, while the sheltered coves at Playa Ancla and Playa Jablillo are perfect for swimming. Finally, Playa Bastian has a fun play area for the kids, but a rocky shoreline means getting in and out of the sea can be a little difficult.
Plenty of Things to See and Do
As well as sunbathing, the coastline of Costa Teguise provides plenty of opportunities for other activities. Playa Cucharas is a major windsurfing hub, with equipment and tuition readily available. Jet-skiing is also popular, and two nearby dive centres offer organised trips to the best sites for scuba-diving and snorkelling.
A short walk from the centre of town is Lanzarote's only water-park, while a feature-filled aquarium does a fantastic job of showcasing the beautiful marine ecology of the Canary Islands. Organised walking tours are also a popular way of seeing the stunning scenery of Costa Teguise whilst learning a little about the area's history and geography at the same time.
Keen golfers are also catered for, with Costa Teguise being home to Lanzarote's oldest golf course. Offering an 18-hole championship-standard course in challenging volcanic terrain, golfers are given a good test against a truly stunning backdrop.
Costa Teguise's location also makes it the ideal base for exploring the island's other attractions. A short drive and you can find yourself admiring the historic buildings in Teguise's old town, marvelling at the volcanic caves of Cueva de Los Verdes, or strolling though César Manrique's amazing Cactus Gardens.
Glorious Sunshine All Year Long
Of course part of what makes Lanzarote such a popular travel destination is the wonderful climate. The island receives warm sunshine and low rainfall all year long, with temperatures in the mid-to-high twenties throughout the summer and low twenties in the winter. Costa Teguise's easterly location means it can sometimes get windy, although this wind can sometimes provide a welcome respite from the summer temperatures.
