When to go
Cala Tarida has a Mediterranean climate and the summer season kicks off in May when temperatures can reach the mid-20s. The peak months of July and August offer temperatures that can hit a blistering 30°c. Avoid the crowds by visiting in September or October, when temperatures can still reach 28°c.
Where to stay
Cala Tarida has a huge selection of accommodations ranging from luxury resorts to cheap hotels that offer excellent facilities. Stay at the Cala Tarida hotel, which is located only 100m from the beach, and enjoy great entertainment, delicious food and various sporting facilities. This family-oriented hotel is perfect for that family holiday you've been looking for.
Attractions and events
The main reason for choosing Cala Tarida has to be the glorious beach that stretches around the bay. Sheltered by green hillsides, the beach is perfect for soaking up the sun. If sunbathing isn't your thing, there are a wide range of water sport activities to try out such as jet-skiing and scuba-diving. As the sea is shallow for quite some distance and is interrupted by rocky outcrops, the beach is great for snorkelling.
With the Aguamar waterpark only a short drive away and several other towns and villages within driving distance, there are many fun-packed days out available that the whole family will enjoy. The Aguamar waterpark offers several thrilling waterslides, children's chutes, paddling pools, snack bars and picnic areas that provide tourists with a wonderfully action-packed day out.
Although a more peaceful resort than its surrounding towns, Cala Tarida is only a 15-minute drive from the more popular, upbeat resort of San Antonio. Take a bus into the centre of town and enjoy great shopping, a wide array of restaurants, bars and nightclubs and a massive choice of water sport activities.
Only a 10-minute drive from Cala Tarida is the quaint mountain-side village of San José. With a fifteenth-century church to explore and long cobbled streets lined with tapas bars and cafes, San José comes highly recommended for a day away from the beach. Visit this lovely village in May and enjoy the Magiclown International Festival, where magicians, clowns and circus acts offer street performances and live shows over an entire weekend.
